IT Support/Help Desk Technician - MAC/PC Desktop

Position Purpose

Quarto Publishing are looking for an enthusiastic, personable IT Helpdesk Technician to join our IT Department in the UK. Reporting and working with the UK IT Manager, you'll operate and play a key role within a busy creative hub supporting MAC and PC systems for a leading global illustrated book publisher.

Based in our Islington London office, you'll be the first point of contact and responsible for attending to 1st and 2nd line technical issues for approximately 200 users. You'll be involved in the delivery of new implementations, roll outs with opportunities to learn new avenues.

The opening will involve visiting our second office in Islington with occasional travel to our third office in Brighton for special projects or emergencies. The role will be based on 35 hours per week and require some flexibility for additional out of hours support.  

Successful applications will possess experience of the following key requirements.


Key Responsibilities Include:


  • Directly resolve end user hardware and software issues in line with KPIs
  • Analyse and communicate with users technical enquiries via ticket system
  • Document all resolutions
  • Adhere to company IT policies
  • Reach out to senior IT staff for guidance on higher level issues



  • Setup and configure new systems following Quarto setup documentation
  • Troubleshoot and repair software and hardware issues
  • Install / update software and sytems
  • Manage system inventory



  • Keep users appraised of status of tickets and system repairs
  • Advise manager and senior IT staff of end user policy violations
  • Offer suggestions to reduce recurring issues or improving end users computing experience
  • Ask for help – report unresolved issues and ask senior IT staff for help when necessary



  • Research and troubleshooting software and hardware issues
  • Network connectivity troubleshooting

Position Specifications


Required Skills

  • Degree in a computer science-related field and/or three years + experience
  • Strong experience supporting PCs and MACs in an Active Directory environment
  • Experience researching and troubleshooting software and hardware issues
  • Demonstrate experience with Network connectivity troubleshooting
  • Experience of resolution of malware/antivirus infections
  • Up-to-date technical knowledge of Windows and MacOS
  • DHCP, DNS and Active Directory
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • A technical, logical thought process
  • Problem-solving skills
  • An ability to stick to strict deadlines
    • An ability to prioritise


  • Experience supporting Adobe Creative Cloud, Suitcase Fusion or Universal Type Server/Client
  • Experience working in a creative environment
  • Microsoft Office 365 Enterprise
  • Experience with Jamf, Ruckus or Cisco Merkai
