Quarto's Diversity Internship Program is designed to provide diverse students with an opportunity to integrate real-world experience at an established publisher with their chosen academic program. Currently we are seeking two Editorial Interns in each of our offices, including Boston North Shore (MA), and Mission Viejo (CA) offices, who would engage in any number of the following activities:
Intern would acquire and hone copyediting and proofreading skills by reviewing manuscripts and page proofs for grammar, style, and organization; assisting editors with research on potential book-project proposals; communicating with authors and designers; trafficking manuscripts; applying for Library of Congress data; maintaining departmental databases; and by other related tasks, as assigned. Additionally, the intern may have an opportunity to work with our Marketing Department.
This paid internship opportunity is for diverse juniors and seniors, specifically majoring in English, Communications, Journalism, and Marketing, and for diverse graduate students in a related master's program.. The program will run from October 2020 thru March 2021, with a minimum of twenty (20) hours per week and a maximum of thirty (30) hours per week required. (Please keep this commitment in mind as you are planning your Spring 2021 semester.) In the interest of safety during the COVID-19 pandemic, the intern will participate remotely; however, we require that the intern be local to the office they are assigned, as on-site work will resume when it is deemed safe.
Please send a resume and a cover letter to firstname.lastname@example.org. Your cover letter must detail your interests; why you are applying; how this internship opportunity might expand your studies; and how your background and experiences would contribute to a more diverse, more inclusive workplace.
Applications are accepted through September 30, 2020 and will be reviewed upon receipt until final interns are selected, on or before October 4th. Eligible, select candidates will be contacted for initial telephone interviews.
