Kate Read

Kate Read is a children’s book author and illustrator, who lives in East Anglia, UK. She originally trained as a theatre designer then graduated in 2018 from the MA in Children’s Book Illustration at Cambridge School of Art and was one of the winners of the SCBWI UK Undiscovered Voices competition 2018. Kate’s first picture book, One Fox (published by Two Hoots), was nominated for the 2020 Waterstones Children’s Book Prize for illustrated books and the 2021 UKLA book awards. Kate has a number of other children's books published by Two Hoots including Boo! A Fishy Mystery, The Littlest Elephant, The Big Bad Bug and Bright Birds and Their Brilliant Brains, and non-fiction titles by Nosy Crow including Beneath the Waves, Butterfly Skies and Birds of a Feather, all of which have been translated into numerous languages.
