Description Description

What do families need to have fun and make memories? Each other! And this adorable book . . .

Discover 50 fun activities you can do at home or in the backyard or in your local area. Each one encourages families to be in the present, enjoy quality time together, practice new skills and create treasured family memories.

These sweetly illustrated activities are accessible and can be done with minimal resources. You'll enjoy hilariously silly 5-minute or 30-minute boredom-busting, bonding-boosting ideas, as well as family projects that can last the whole afternoon or be revisited over a year. Many will result in beautiful keepsakes, like a family recipe book, while others will simply leave you with warm memories and plenty of giggles!

Activities are zero-to-low cost, nature-friendly and include:

  1. Form a family band and hold a disco in the kitchen!
  2. Make a family gratitude jar
  3. Create a family recipe book filled with all your favourites
  4. Role reversal – the kids are in charge!
  5. Take a family portrait
  6. Make a time capsule
  7. Do the chores . . . in character!
  8. Start your own ‘Family Day’ – pick out a day in the year and spend the day celebrating your family with special dishes, music and crafts
  9. Put on a show-and-tell afternoon where each member gives a presentation about something they love
  10. Choose and practice family-care rituals, including affirmations and cosy comforts

Time flies when you're having fun! It's important to enjoy the moment, and this book will help your family do just that.

Gemma Koomen

Gemma Koomen lives in Northumberland, UK, with her husband and two young daughters. Her love of painting and drawing began as a child when she spent her days in an imaginary world created with crayons and pencils. She went on to receive her BFA from Glasgow School of Art. Today, she spends her days making art in her little studio which, on clear days, looks over wide moors, forests and hills. Inspired by the simple things in life, Gemma loves time in nature and observing the tiny worlds that open up when you are quiet enough to notice them. The idea for the Tree Keepers came from living in a small rural community with close connections to neighbours and the natural world. Flock is her first picture book.
