The Bright Press, part of the Quarto Group, is looking for an Editor to join our busy team based in central Brighton. 

The Quarto Group is the leading global illustrated book publisher; our mission is to educate, entertain and enrich the lives of readers. The Bright Press creates non-fiction books across subject areas ranging from creative technology and activity, to travel and gardening. Our titles maintain the highest editorial, design and production standards, and we work with co-edition publishing partners all over the world. 

We are looking to appoint an organised Editor with a keen eye for detail and experience of illustrated book publishing. You will be responsible for project managing up to 15 live books annually, working closely with freelance designers, editors and picture researchers. The successful candidate will ideally have 5+ years in an editorial department, with an understanding of the illustrated book marketplace. 

Skills and experience required:

  • Ideally 5+ years in an illustrated publishing environment
  • Experience of managing and motivating freelancers
  • Commitment to meeting schedule and budget requirements
  • InDesign skills
  • Knowledge of co-edition publishing would be an advantage
