For the third year, Quarto has committed to tackling the UK's literacy challenge by signing the Vision for Literacy Business Pledge 2019.
Literacy remains one of the UK's greatesr challenges, costing the taxpayer £2.5 billion every year.
The literacy skills gap is apparent at just five-years-old, where children from the poorest families start school 19 months behind their peers in language and vocabulary. This is a gap most children never recover from and one which will take 40 years to close at the current rate of change.
Every child deserves the best possible start in life, which means equipping them with the language, communication and literacy skills they need to succeed in education, employment and life.
We are one of 74 businesses from across the UK who have signed the Vision for Literacy Business Pledge 2019 and committed to taking practical steps to tackle low literacy in our workforces, the local communities where we work and at a national level.
